The Phenotrail
An installation that aims to explore the concept of biological adaptations by emulating it, in its simplest form. Participants are invited to take a blank rubber band powered frame and using it as a starting point, to build a model capable of traversing the course. They are not however, expected to traverse the whole course first attempt as the obstacles change and become more extreme. Instead, when their model fails to overcome an obstacle they are encouraged to modify, change or adapt it to be better suited to the current conditions, to be better adapted to its environment. It is perfectly acceptable to end the course with a model that is drastically different to how it started. The installation also touches on other themes that interest me like 'interactivity' and 'play'.
